Plot Sketch: Annalisa Townsend is on her way with her father to set up government on an English-claimed island in the Atlantic. On their way, their ship along is accosted by pirates. Annalisa meets James Sterling, a pirate, who takes a kiss instead of a finger. With suspicion of fraternization with pirates looming on her jail-ridden father, she takes off, forging her own letter of marque with a crew and a ship, set to find the chest of gold that the pirates thieved from her father to clear his name.
Verdict: I Heart It! I read this during the Read. Read. Read-A-Thon, and flew through it. I loved the adventure and empowerment it brought to a young woman, however implausible it may be. The writing was light and the content was definitely squee-worthy at least a few times. It's a quick read, so go ahead, indulge yourself!
